I say from personal beliefs that having a pet does in fact help your health. I do know that pets can lower stress and even get you out of moments of depression; I have cats and a dog and I can say that they do help me with stress and depression. After a long day at school, coming home and relaxing with my cats and dog is the best feeling after the stress I have at school. I do say that pets, of any kind, can, and do, help us with a lot of things with our health: stress, depression, blood pressaure, cholesterol, and even triglyceride levels. The People-Animal Connection(PAC) says "Among other things, animals contribute to raising self-esteem, significantly lowering anxiety levels, improving attitude toward others and opening lines of communication, with geriatric patients we see a bridge of communication develop with staff and family when a dog visits." I have volunteered with the group of Fur KIds to help cats and dogs get adopted, and the time I spent with them helped me a lot. So I say any kind of pet, adopted, or not, can and will help yopur health. I love my pets and is thankful for help they do for me and my family; my pets have helped me through a lot of things ever since I was little. I wouldn't be here today, nor who I am with it wasn't for my pets.
